As part of our website redesign efforts, we have been asking our users about their experiences with the current site. One of our methods for doing so has been an online survey, the results of which we'll be sharing on this blog.
Of those who filled out our survey, only a small group (16%) were Alumni/ae. However, the majority of those respondents (62%) visited the site at least once a week.
The reasons they gave for visiting included: finding out about Law School events, giving to the Law School, finding out what their teachers and/or classmates are up to, and reading the Law School blogs.
Some of the things that they cited as strengths of the current site were:
- "Doesn't cater to lowest common denominator."
- "The content. The blogs are really top-drawer, and the profiles of professors are very well-done."
- "Photos, faculty quotes."
- "recent articles/posts from faculty"
Some of the weaknesses of the current site that they identified were:
- "Poor graphics. Needs to be more interactive, more video. Needs more information, if willing to drill down. See Stanford Law School's website."
- "The interface is completely non-intuitive."
- "Old fashioned"
Some of the improvements they would like to see are:
- "More blogs. I.e., here's the new building or renovation design: What do you think? Here's the new scholarship program for students interested in nonprofits. What do you think?"
- "Email a Law School alum through the site (this can be done through the main U of C Alumni site, but why not offer it on this site?). This does not imply disclosing the email address of the recipient, merely facilitating contact."
- "[to be able to] find out more about alums"
